Founder and Owner
Sarah came to start this company with a degree in Environmental Science and five years experience of teaching outdoor education and working manual labor jobs. She designs the products, manages production, financing, marketing and sales.
Please welcome one of White Sulphur’s newest residents! We’re so excited Laida and her husband Garrett have moved on up from Livingston for Garrett’s logging career…and for Laida to take Red Ants Pants to the next level! Laida has a background in wildlife management, having researched all types of critters from shorebirds to mammals. You’ll find her and Garrett spending their free time outdoors – be it on their horses, hiking, in the truck, on the four wheeler, or in the boat!
Born and raised in Billings, MSU Bobcat alum Judy has called White Sulphur home since 1983. She’s raised four (great) kids here, loves staying active in local organizations, works as a US Postal Service clerk, and somehow also has time to romp with her two dogs and three horses. Judy spends her free time enjoying all that Montana has to offer: camping, boating, skiing, and spending time with family and friends. After visiting her in the shop, be sure to stop by Berg Garage for great customer service and to say howdy to her husband, Jay!
Another great Montanan has returned home. Born and raised in Helena, Alayna spent the last six years living the big city life up and down the east coast working as an artist and designer. We’re thrilled she’s come back to enjoy a much more relaxed existence building an off-the-grid art studio in the mountains west of Helena; it will eventually become a textile art residency program. In her free time, this nymph never turns down a swimming hole, kicks up her heels square dancing, and enjoys her passion – weaving and sewing an entirely handmade wardrobe.
Growing up a ski jumper in Vermont and attending Montana State University set Ally on a course to fall in love with Montana. She’s a seasonal employee of the U.S. Forest Service and keeps us safe in the summers as a member of the local Fire Crew. The real bonus is that she’s a great chef and baker, making tasty treats for her friends and family to keep them fueled for their skiing, hiking, and water sports adventures!
White Sulphur is thrilled to have this Athens, Georgia native bringing her positive energy to town! In addition to being an important part of the Red Ants Pants team, you’ll also find Amber in the great outdoors with her seasonal work as a Forest Service Wildlife Tech and serving up good food and great drinks down at Bar 47. Her dogs Sophie and Henry and horse Owen bring endless adventures and she’s always enjoying the many live music events in the region with friends in her free time!
KATHY WEBER BATES
Kathy brings more than a decade of experience as an award-winning journalist to the team and is devoted to telling the Red Ants Pants story on every platform, including campfire sing-a-longs. Kathy and her husband, Joe, consider themselves blessed to be raising their two young children in Griz Country. They can be spotted playing in the dirt, camping, floating & fishing the Blackfoot & Bitterroot Rivers.
Annie Bailey is a photographer, artist, and graphic designer, as well as a native Montanan. She grew up on her family’s ranch just outside of White Sulphur Springs and knew from an early age that a life in the creative field was what she was going to pursue. Annie attended the Art Institute of Colorado, living in Denver for several years before moving back to Montana, where she is most at home. Her childhood spent admiring the landscapes and seasons of Montana’s countryside has influenced her art and design greatly and she enjoys mixing her traditional roots with modern design.
Hailing from Havre, Kristy spent a lot of time growing up on her family’s cattle ranch north of Chinook. We were lucky enough to snag this financial powerhouse to keep all our trains running on time; she now runs her own accounting and business valuation consulting practice in Bozeman, where she lives with her husband, Paul, and sweet fur baby, Gus. She inherited her dad’s love for the outdoors, finding herself most happy in the mountains. While her day job keeps her busy, she’s a country girl at heart and a damn good shot!
BREE ROGERS DUGAN
Bree has been a loyal customer since her sister Kami’s premier in the (in)famous ‘Truck Commercial.’ As a strategic consultant, she is having a blast dialing in processes and helping Calhoun to identify and achieve goals. Basically, every day of ‘work’ feels a heck of a lot more like ‘play’ – the way it ought to be! In the fall, she can be found upland bird and waterfowl hunting with her black lab, Scully. She lives in Bozeman with her husband, John “the Duges” Dugan.
A.K.A.: Nellie Bellie, our faithful shop dog and dear friend. Border Collie, Australian Shepherd and Heeler, she does a terrific job of herding Magpie. She will often be found in the front shop window, and no…the little doggie in the window is most definitely not for sale. But she will give you plenty of loving when you come visit.
Oh if cats could be human….this feline has more character than most. Perhaps it’s her mustache, perhaps just her crazy spirit. She will happily greet you in the shop with full volume hellos…until Nellie herds her away from the attention.
BOARD OF ADVISORS
LEFT TO RIGHT: Alan Deibert, Richard Siberell, Sarah Calhoun, Mark Terwilliger
Here at Red Ants Pants we believe in mentors. We have learned that it is a really good idea to ask for help from the wise folks who have paved the way before us. We have annual board meetings and regular gatherings, often floating the beautiful Yellowstone River. This board has so much incredible skill and experience in business planning, product design, sourcing, and production, and we are constantly humbled by their generosity.
